This beau was my first G-Wagen. I bought her in Spain in January 1996. I paid a lot of money for her when she was not in great shape but you have to be swindled at least once in your life to grow a proper man (or so they say). She started life in Germany in January 1984 so by now she is more than 20 years old. I spent a lot of money on it as well and by the time I sold her she was running really sweet. Now she lives in Ireland in the hands of a fellow GWOA member.

She is the older 460 series 300 GD G-Wagen, in SWB and fitted with a 5-speed manual gearbox. The engine is the arch-famous OM617 5 cylinder naturally aspirated diesel, which delivers 88 BHP. It doesn't sound (and it isn't) a lot on the road, but off the road its healthy torque ensures unstoppable progress everywhere. It was very economical, averaging 22.2 mpg over my entire ownership.
